Title: Back to school, Shish!
Post by: kenkew on January 30, 2006, 16:06:06
Seeing as how the powers that be made it almost impossible for me to work from home, I put myself into the 'job-market'!
Before they will offer me anything, I have to improve my language skills. (Dutch.)
So, back to school tomorrow to learn more lingo. I explained at the job centre that I was quite capable of doing a thousand and one things without ever opening my mouth. 'Not good enough', I'm told. I said, 'Well, if that's the situation, I'll go on benefit!'
'OK' she says, 'Here's the forms!'
What a situation! I'm prevented from working for myself due to financial overheads imposed by third-parties, and yet they are quite prepared to offer me financial assistance. How crazy is that?

The conversation at the job centre, by the way, which lasted about 40 min's, was all conducted in English!

Ken
Look at it this way: if you have to learn a foreign language then Dutch is closer to English than any other one. The biggest barrier is getting started. You'll sson be blabbering away grand style. 8)
Good luck!
