Finished sticks ready for posting will be on here to save 'getting lost' else where. Sticks have names instead of numbers so we know exactly what stick we're talking about!
So have a look as I add them and take your pick of what you fancy. I've put a description and price on each stick which is a reflection of materials used and p&p to UK. The charge for wood, tools, equipment and time taken (many hours) is next to nothing. Biggest cost will be p&p closely followed by emery paper which is about £1.00 for 3 sheets!
If you're happy with your new companion, please don't forget a donation to Dan towards the site.
Like all my sticks I tend to use the natural shape of the wood as much as possible rather than carving out an animal or the like. This stick is lightweight, approx 37" long and about 3/4 to 1/2". There's no ferrule on the end 'cos I havn't got any!...but I've inserted a metal 'button' instead. That's not a bad idea actually 'cos you might want to shorten the stick anyway.
Lightweight but stronger than Bunny and ideal for both walking with and reaching/hooking those tastiest blackberries.
40" long. The pic shows the stick before a final steelwool rub and a last protective finish is applied.
Bye Bye...Bramble has gone to ramble in the UK. :-*
The above two are ready for the off. First to say 'yes' via my E-mail gets them.
The next one, 'PoCho' will be ready by Friday. Here he is finished. Photo is a bit decieving, he actually has more of a porky face than a doggy one. Poosibly already gone to an A4A'r but you never know, eh?
38" long tapering from 3/4 down to 1/2". The 'head' is almost 3" across.
(PoCho has been sold. Sad to see him leaving me!)
Next companion looking for a good home is 'Falkland'. Deceivingly comfortable for the right handed, med weight and reasonably sturdy. Almost 38" long with finger grips. Nice in the hand. Good companion.

Falkland is yours for £12 plus your bit to A4A. Contact me via E-mail. First come 'an all that.
Just finished 'Cofi'. Another quite sturdy but not heavy companion. Longer than the average at 44" but can be cut to size. Fits either hand but Cofi does prefer a left hander. Great pressy if you already have a companion.

Cofi is yours for £12 plus your donation to A4Aincluding extortionate p&p from here!
Latest one ready, (well, will be by the weekend) is 'Dom-Dom'. A fairly plain looking rounded top and a length of just short of 36". This is a sturdy chap yet not too heavy in the hand. Measure yourself for Dom-Dom 'cos he's a tad under size for tallish people. Good stick tho'. I think this one is made from oak.
Dom-Dom is yours for £10 plus your bit to A4A.
Latest one ready is 'Seasha'. Quite a small very light yet strong chappy and ideal for a child. Comes with a couple of spare eyes just in case.
£1.00 to A4A and £9.00 to me which includes p&p to the UK.
First come first gets via my e-mail.
As I type Seasha is sailing across the sea. Lots of interest in this one. If you missed it, there are a couple of similar sized sticks still available. See above.
This is 'Gamsgyll', A heavy 5ft fella and with a no-nonsense attitude. 'Fist type grip' with cumfy 'horse-shoe' thumb hollow. Made from oak he's a strong working stick. Metal ring fastened to Turks head lashing. A stick to lead a bull no doubt. A beauty. Gamsgyll shouldn't really be on here now! I thought I'd put him on yesterday. I was waiting for a phone call from a farmer friend in the UK who has actually bought him, but the pic's does give an idea of another stick design and I have more planned similar.
Gamsgyll is off looking for Yorkshire games.
Finished this one an hour ago....although if the buyer wants a 'Turks head' knot putting around it, ok. This stick is made from two pieces. I had a nice stick and a piece of wood that would make a nice a top, so, I put 'em together and while not all relationships are harmonious, this seems to work quite well so I called this chap, 'Bliss'.
Bliss is yours for £11 inclusive of p&p from here. (Don't forget A4A, please.)

This one finished this morning. The look of this stick prompted me to polish it with just a protective coating of a high bees wax polish and 'bone' it between coats. Takes longer but by leaving a lot of features in the wood the end result is a stick that has the look of being many years old. Bit different. I'm calling this one 'Leftown' on account of it being strictly for a left-handed person and because this is a town stick, certainly not a hiking or rambling one. Like all my sticks, I don't fit a ferrule to the base for 2 reasons. One, you might want to shorten the it, and two, I havn't got any.
Leftown has left this town for another one...Byeee.
'Purdy' is the one below. Should be complete by Wednesday. Nice stick. Firm and easy to get into step with. A bit of a talking point too if you're a cat lover.
'Purdy' is yours for £11 including p&p plus a bit to A4A please.
Finished 'Yoman' last night. A stick for a man, no doubt. Easy to walk with. Left or right hand. Suit a man between 5'7 and 5'10...ish. Nice stick. Strong but a good pace-maker.
Yoman is £14 (I'll pay P&P if you give a bit to A4A...deal?)
Hot off the workshop floor is Kooky. Would suit a smaller person.
'Batty' just flew in from the shed. First one to offer £12 (I'll pay p&p) and a bit to A4A has him.

(Thanks to Gardenantics for this other link to walking companions.)

BYE BYE BATTY. BATTY FLEW AWAY
Up for walk-about is 'Pokey'. Light stick, very cumfy and good for pacing it out a bit also great for snagging blackberries and for rescuing wellies out of bogs!
Whoops! Pokey has been purchased. Me thinks this is the fastest A4A sale ever. I'm going to miss this one...sigh.
Pyfor will be done for on Friday. Bad pic, he's come out looking not like he actually is. Will try for a better pic on Friday. Good for trotting along with. Suit anyone not taller than 5'8". ...and yes, that is an earing!
Pyfor has trotted off to the UK on a plane, byeeee...(lazy begger!)
Kenkew, I have PMed you. sarah
Hi K K, i was just wondering if you have found anything yet for my hubby. a tall sturdy stick if you remember. I know you must be very busy just thought i would ask you. Cheers Mary. ;D ;D
Sorry Sarah, no PM arrived... ??? Dunno why.
Rose, how tall is your fella? Is he left/right handed? Can he grip alright?
Sarah, Pyfor should be with you about now.
I am hoping he will arrive tomorro Ken, fingers crossed.
Ken he is 6ft tall, and needs a right hand sturdy stick please. ;D.

Kenkew, Pyfor the stick you made for my dads birthday has arrived this morning safe and sound. He is so lovely I just wanted to say thank you very much. I cant wait to pass him on to his new owner! Sarah.
I'm pleased your pleased, Sarah. Hope your dad makes good use of him.
To Rosebud: Made a start on a couple. I'll put pic's on when I get close to finishing for you to decide.
'Jay', a longer stick for a person of at least 6' tall. Quite strong without being too heavy. Jay only has one eye on account of that's what he grew up with! He weighs in at 270 gram and is 109cm long. (43")
Any interest in Jay?
Next one up this week is 'Claud'. Quite weighty at 295grams. He's a metre (39") tall and pretty robust. Does Claud appeal to anyone?
Finished 'Petra' this morning. A lighter stick for a smaller person weighing in at 144 grams and with a length of 34" (86cm). Does Petra take your fancy? Got a question? Ask me over on the 'Walking Companions' thread or E-mail me as below.
Sorry, Petra has gone...whoosh!!
This one is 'Jundi', finished him last night. A medium weight stick at 195 grams and a length of 90cm. (36")
This is 'Wyss'. Finished today and looking for a home. 155 gram in weight and stands 79cm (31" tall...or rather, short!) Anyone?
Ken just got back from holiday i shall be in touch OK Mary. ;D
This is Sealy. Small stick for a lighter person. Only 110Grams and 29"long.
Sorry, Sealy has sail away.
Hot off the varnishing table is Jingo. 280grams and 87cm (34") tall and one of my favourites to-date. Who wants Jingo?
Now, if you ever want to argue with a bit of wood, get a bit of this wood. This is the toughest stick I've ever worked. First I thought it was Elm....then I thought, 'No way, this is Oak'...But I've worked lots of Oak and non have been as resistant as this was to everything I did. I kept putting it away and going back to it to work it again but it didn't get any easier. Finaly, I decided that if that's what he wants to look like, so be it, I'm not going to force him to be what what he doesn't want. Consequently he's come out looking more or less as I found him. I've rubbed him down a bit...Ha! Just a bit! and I varnished him after he allowed me to put a couple of 'grips' around the handle, but that's about all he'd allow so that's all he got!
A good strong stick with a naturally shaped conventional grip. Good stick and we enjoyed our battles! (Even if he won.)
Her's about 92cms tall and would suit a man close to 6' in height. I like him. Do you?
(The photo shows a ragged stem...it's not, it's just the pic.)
Here's Hando.
This is Nat. He's got a horse shoe (ish) shape to his top. Nice stick. A decent weight at 196Grams and 94 cms (37") long.
Hi Ken, i shall get back to you ok great sticks.
Just bringing this topic forward as it goes with the 'companion' thread. Quite a few new stcks completed. Tell me what you like.
Been away for awhile, so making and selling my sticks has been closer to home.
Back on line and the latest one is Ducky. Offers plus an A4A donation.
Here he is...love the eyes, don't you?
Ducky has gone to a good home in Yorkshire. Pity really, I was thinking of keeping him for myself.
More sticks under going transformation. Watch this space.
Ken.
Next ready the off: Leggy. A bit unusual and certainly not a conventional handle, but take it from me, it's a very comfortable grip.
Left or right handed this one, not heavy or cumbersome. All in all a nice stick and has a small 'hook' for hanging on your coat when you need both hands free....now that's different, eh?
oh i loved the ducky one ken
You're too slow Deb's. You 'ave ter gerrup in a morning to catch the best worms..... :D :D
