Title: Strawberry Plants, can I....
Post by: only small on January 27, 2006, 13:36:01
plant them now? I have just received my strawberry plants from Suttons, but am not sure whether it is a good idea to plant them out yet due to the fact that it is fairly chilly out and I keep hearing reports about the coldest winter ever. Or should I just pot them up and put them on a windowsill? I have a severe lack of space to keep anything indoors, I think a windowsill would be the best I could do! ;D

They should be fine planted out now, infact they need a period of cold for them to flower and fruit.

The only word of warning would be not to plant when the ground is frozen. Have a look at the long range forecast so you can pick a time to plant when a few mild days are forecast if possible.

In the meantime keep them cool.
