I´ll be in the uk for a few weeks from next week onwards.
does anyone know a really good seed shop in london?. one with a good selection of vegetable seeds preferably?
thanks for your help
I think I might be tempted to get out to Kew. It is very easy to do on the underground! ;D
How much time have you got?
i´ll be working the whole time. i don´t remember a seed shop in kew, but that was 20 years ago.
Hi blight. I live and work in London but to my knowledge there are no 'seed shops' as such. There are plenty of garden centres which sell seeds and you could use Google to find one near where you are working. But I think most of us on this site buy our seeds direct from our favourite seed companies.

that is what i was afraid to hear.
in germany it is still a bit more old fashioned with some really good seedsmen in the big towns. but they are struggling as well nowadays.
anyway, i´ll be working in central london. are there any garden centers at all?
Oh yes. Here's a link: http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/directory/1115.php
I'm sorry but I can't vouch for them but you could contact them to see if they have what you are looking for.

thanks georgie,
basically i just like to look around places that have to do with vegetables, no matter how faintly. so they´ll do. and if i find a variety of artichokes i haven´t got yet, the better.
Well, I wish you luck. Do let us know how you get on and enjoy your visit. :)

What about Seeds of Italy - they have a web-site, but I think I've read somewhere that they have a shop too.
not seeds but if you're in London try and get to Borough Market (a big farmers market near London Bridge tube station) - it's great just to walk around, there's lots of places to eat or try produce from the stalls and of course they have lots of organic veg. It's open Friday afternoons and all day Saturday and is sign posted from the underground. I've got a feeling that one of the herb stalls also sells seeds but am not absolutely sure.
there's also a branch of Neals Yard Dairy down one of the side roads selling fantastic British cheese and one of the best cafe's in London (Borough cafe) for a great British fry up! (of course I don't miss living in London at all - can you tell!)
