This is cheating because you could diy.
But you may be busy &, anyway, h/r is not a thing you are likely to get cross-opinions on?

Strangely, we have had ours in a 4'X4' patch for decades & it doesn't seem to want to spead.

I grow mine in an old brick chimney, approx 2ftx2ft, 18in deep. Certainly OK to grow in a pot, although it needs a bit of watering.

It is slowly breaking the chimney - the roots are forcing their way into the mortar. So I would suggest a strong pot  ;)

yes, the rockery sounds a great place for this to grow, it can join the sage and the mint and live and grow til its hearts content!!!!!

Err - gunnerbee, how are you going to dig it up if you put it in the rockery? would think the pot/bin/chimney idea is better to be honest :)

A container sounds like the best idea, mine is in a large plastic bin with small drainage holes, set into the ground so it has similar moisture levels to the surroundings.

Be careful. It grows like couch grass, Very hard to get rid of. Keep it in your container
