Hi Folks
Never used this before but as the cabbages etc suffered last year was looking to buy some and try it.
Now the dumb question what is the best to buy as it seems to come in different grades was looking at 17gsm & 25gsm, i suppose that the 25 is tougher and lasts longer therefore better in the long run??, but do you folks know different....
Hi sjg, this is what I am currently using, no pigeons got through so far! (First year ever! ;D )

Do a search on 'enviromesh' and you will find previous postings on this topic.

Enviromesh is the ideal protection for almost any crop but can be initially expensive. Fairly fine netting should provide adequate protection for brassicas so long as its raised up and it would be longer lasting than fleece. Mind you one trapped cabbage white can wreak havoc so make sure you don't have any already in residence when you cover or weed >:( ;D
I bought fine plastic netting from Poundland 6mtr x 1.5mtr 50p per box that's half price at the moment, I'm not expecting long life from it but if it does a season I'll be happy, I wouldn't recommend fleece from Wilko as it tears easily. :-\
Mesh, surely, is worth the outlay - for pest prevention?
And - if a 'white' gets in - you can see it & bash it before it wreaks havoc!
Jumble sales for old net curtains.
