Hi guys,
I'm new here and thought I would share with you some photos of my mum's house which is in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia.
I've been looking at some of your 'plots'. I gather plots are designated garden areas which you don't have at your houses / flats?
Cheers
Nicole

Lovely garden! So many trees! My aunt and unc live in Adelaide, one day I will get out there!
Our plots are a British tradition which goes back to the bad old days in the early 19th Century when it was cheaper to rent small plots of land out to labourers to grow their own food than to pay them enough to buy it. As you can see, we do all sorts of things with them, but vegetables are still central.
Looks beautifully designed Tracy. I am glad you showed the pic further up too, as I wanted to take a walk up there and see what was there. Like EJ, I love the trees. :) busy_lizzie
Oops!! Sorry I mean't Nicole! :-[ ;D busy_lizzie

Sure mate, I'd be happy to host your time in Adelaide and have you along for a barbie.
I do hope you like tomato sauce? We Aussies believe it is a compliment to every meal! :D
Yes some houses especially in some towns have small gardens, or people living in flats do not have gardens so the plot on the allotment is mostly rented to grow vegetables.
Allotments were out of favour for a long time and many closed but now with a keen interest on growing your own food and healthy living many more people rent them now in the UK.
I would be interested to know what vegetables you grow yourselves in Australia?
Oh how I miss the eucalypts!
Hi Nicole, I am an Aussie living in the UK. From Tasmania originally. My Grandparents lived in Adelaide for many years, many years and I have visited there a couple of times - lovely place. (Nice wine too from the surrounding areas ;D)
Nice to meet you :)
Beautiful Nicole. I think I may attempt a cruise with my narrowboat .... Up to the other hemisphere. :P ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I think it would take me the best part of say, 4 years !? ;D
Hey Nicole - love the water butt ... I myself use old plastic containers ;) mc

Pretty much everything grows here I think ipt. Except eggplant.
I've never known anyone to grow an eggplant. ;)

Hi moggle - happy Australia Day to you!
Tassie is a beautiful place -- one of the best places in the whole of Oz, I think!
