Don't know if this should go here or in wildlife :) Is anyone watching the whale? Honest to god, there's a whale swimming up the Thames. BBC is showing live coverage
Watching it now on Sky. The poor thing sounds like it's injured and it's mum is looking for it in Southend.
Hope it makes it! :'(
I didn't hear about injuries, just that it hasn't yet worked out that it's swimming the wrong way.
"The species is described as 'inquisitive'" - Sky News :)
Ahh. Just asked sick eldest daughter to change from MTV - two whales I think she's just said. How sad - I hope they can save them. :'(
A PR company based at Millbank has started a whale watch blog here http://www.lewiswhalewatch.blogspot.com/ (http://www.lewiswhalewatch.blogspot.com/). They've nicknamed it Gonzo. Go Gonzo go!
Cap'n Aheb at your service, whats the problem?
That's an ordinary one. Have you seen the White Whale?

Let's all hope that there's a happy ending for the Whale in the Thames, though the fact that it's so far south from it's natural habitat around Scotland and the North Atlantic, doesn't augur well. ???
I was lucky enough to see some whales when I went Whale Watching in Iceland a couple of years ago. :) Beautiful creatures, and it's heartbreaking to see it in difficulties. :'(
Dave
A sad ending.
Poor creature! How sad it should end like this. :'( busy_lizzie
Did you see today that the watering can used to keep Gonzo wet was going at auction on ebay(I think) this mornig it was at £6,700?!! Haven't seen the finfal figure.
The money goes to conservation so he didn't die in vain :-\
£118,500 as of now. Ye Gods.
God moves in mysterious ways ;)
Some people were criticising the hundred grand spent on the rescue attempt, yet it's raised more than that for a good cause.
We live quite near the river so we took our little boy down to see the whale as it went past, everyone clapped and cheered as the barge went past and the people on the boat all waved back it was quite touching too see the support for the whale, I was gutted when we got home to find out it had passed away not long after we had seen it. My little one kept saying it's alright now mummy the whale has gone home.
