I am new to this board and not sure if I am posting correctly, but here goes. Any pointers would be appreciated. Could anyone please explain for me -'for Dummy version' how I can go ahead setting up my own member page, how to PM an address, etc. Never been on a chat room like this one and cannot seem to find a section on this forum that could explain it all to me.
A bit about me - I am new to the UK - 14 months (from South Africa) so the seasons are on their heads for me and I am still experimenting with seeds. It has been a very steep learning curve indeed. On the flowering side, I have just purchased a house and am busy working on starting up a country cottage garden which is north facing with acid soil.
Anyway I transgress....
Other than the Swiss Chard (which I cannot find for love nor money) - eventually settled for perpetual spinach which I read on one of the other pages tastes good as well and lasts the whole of winter - so maybe this was a blessing in disguise. I have purchased two kinds of runner beans - one called Butler and Celebration (new variety with salmon coloured flowers). Also purchased some Early Onward peas which I am going to give a go as well. Also sown some Black Beauty Aubergines for the green house. On the tomatoe side I am trying out Harbinger, San Marzano (organic) or Marmande Super (organic) tomato seeds for the first time in my greenhouse this year. I am also planting my old trusty tumbling toms which are a container variety and which performed very well last year in a hanging basket. These seeds are all store bought from The organic gardening catalogue this year.
Besides that I am not going to grow anymore vegetables as I have a very small back garden 9sq metres and cold greenhouse. The rest is going to be a country cottage garden. So I am more interested in flowering seeds.
Welcome!
Re the PMs - this function isn't running at the moment I don't think.
Re posting pictures - the easy way (ie a click of a button) involves you donating to the site. If not you need to set up on online photo holding account - try googling for photobucket (there are others). You then upload your photos to them to host and post the url you are given on your posting on here.
You should be able to update your profile by clicking on the link on the home page under your name I think.
Re your plants - I'm a newbie so can't help you there! Good luck though - South Africa...........Mmmm I know where I would rather be on a grey January day! ;)
HI jitterbug, if you send me an e-mail or PM if fixed and working, ill try to help you with some of your problems,
windygale ;)
Many thanks for warm welcome 8). Well I am pleased to report that I have managed to update my profile - alto the picture I have chosen (which is one I love) is slightly smudged - any ideas on how to fix this??
I tried contacting the one member directly but am unable to post.. Will try again at work tomorrow. Maybe my work computer is cleverer than my home one ;)
Thanks to Jesse who introduced me to this forum. The Gardenweb I usually frequent is not much fun.
