Title: Want to grow peas what type please?

We are after some jucie, sweet garden peas. What types do any of you recomend. We will be growing from seed.

I have always had a good crop off "Hurst Greenshaft".Depends whether you want early or maincrop etc.

Thanks for the reply Alan. I think we will try and early crop if there are some sweet ones and a main crop later if the same applies. :)

Somebody recommended Waverex on here last year so I am going to have a go with those this year.

I like Waverex (petit pois type) and Hurst Greenshaft, both very good. I grew another last year, but can't find the empty packet - think it was called Twinkle - if so, that was good too.

I am a fan of traditional mushy peas, and have been recommended 'Lincoln' for this purpose, the object being to make a large panful and freeze off in small portions ... I have no other comments to add ...

There is a thread about  `Alderman`-and a fine pea it is-but for me the best is Hurst Green Shaft
