Title: Moggles Swapsies 2006
Post by: Moggle on January 08, 2006, 10:50:13
Hi all

I was a bit restrained at the garden centre yesterday when buying this year's seeds so I hope to make up some of the wish list with some swaps. My wish list is:

Climbing french bean
Swiss Chard
Florence Fennel
Nero Di Toscana Kale
Pumpkin - marina de choggia
Pumpkin - Lady Godiva or other with 'naked' seed
Plum Tomato

I have to offer:

Climbing Borlotti
Meteor pea
Twinkle Pea
Mixed Leaf lettuce (Mr Fothergills mix)
Gardeners delight tomato (although I expect most people have these)
Craigella Tomato - nice medium-sized bush tom
Belstar Calabrese
Purple Sprouting early broccoli
All the year round cauli

Moggle, I've got some swiss chard I can swap, wouldn't mind your gardener's delight toms if they're still available. :)

edit....I found some gardeners delight lurking at the bottom of my seed box. I'll send you some chard anyway, pm me with your address :)

Moggle, ordered Blue Lake climbing bean this year so have some more up to date ones if you're worried about Lisha's bb2002, or just want more of same.   Also some Kingshorn Wax dwarf if interested.  I'd really like some of the meteor and twinkle peas if they're still available as I only have good old Kelvedon Wonder at the moment!

Thanks
Ellkebe

Hi Moggle!

I have a few Marina di Chioggia I can let you have. I bought the packet in a supermarket in Italy and the seeds have some red stuff on them - preservative I presume, and don't know how organic you are, you may prefer not to have them. They did ok for me last season and taste good.
As pm still doesn't seem to be working if you let me know on here I will send them if you do want them - have your address still.

Moggle - I seem to have 2 different addresses for you. I have sent to the address on the back of the purple leeks and hope it finds you!

Periwinkle, I moved house recently. The address from the leeks should be my current one  :) The only other address you'd have is the in-laws so they'd find their way to me from there too  :)

Hello

I am new to this board and not sure if I am posting correctly, but here goes.

Moggles : if you have excess Swiss Chard I would love a couple of seeds - am prepared to trade you some Harbinger or San Marzano (organic) or Marmande Super (organic tomotoe) seeds.  These are store bought from The organic gardening catalogue this year.  Also have some bronze and Florence fennel (not much though!) and some organic rocket seed.

Jesse : same goes for you on the transfer - if you still have any of that Swiss Chard seed available.  I have been haunting the nursery's in the UK and they do not seem to have Swiss chard so settled for a packet of Perpetual Spinach - not sure of the taste but bought a packet anyway.   Thanks as well for introducing me to this site.  Looks like a friendly bunch.

Other than the Swiss Chard I have purchase two kinds of runner beans - one called Butler and Celebration (a new variety with salmon coloured flowers)  Also purchased some Early Onward peas and some Black Beauty Aubergines which I am going to give a go as well.  Besides that I am not going to grow anymore vegetables as I have a very small back garden 9sq metres and cold greenhouse.  The rest is going to be a country cottage garden.  So I am more interested in flowering seeds.

I am new to the UK (from South Africa) so the seasons are on their heads for me and I am still experimenting with seeds.  It has been a very steep learning curve indeed.  On the flowering side, I have just purchased a house and am busy working on starting up a country cottage garden which is south facing with acid soil.

Jitterbug, I was after Swiss Chard seeds, not swapping them, sorry. Thanks for the offer of tomatoes, but I really have to stop now. The only other thing I could possibly tempted by is a 'naked' seed pumpkin for roasting the seeds  :) (ie Lady Godiva, Triple Treat)
