Title: Best tree or shrub for Blackbirds?
Post by: Bun on January 05, 2006, 20:32:42
I want to plant something that the Blackbirds will like to nest in but will keep out the Magpies, as every year they raid their nest & the alarm sound from the Blackbirds goes on for bally ages, day after bally day! Bally Magpies! >:(

Magpies are a menace to small birds, but I don't think you'll find a shrub designed to keep them out. What you need is something which grows really thickly so it's hard to see the nests. A thick thorn hedge is probably as good as anything.
