It was a few years ago, long before I became interested in growing stuff, but I seem to remember grass or a grass substitute being advertised by the world and his dog. They said it was ground covering, lush and green all year round, and was about an inch or two tall and either didn't need cutting or only once a year. It was intended for replacing your half dead, moss ridden, high maintence lawn :-\
Was I just dreaming or was it astroturf or something? ;D
If it exists outside the world of my head and it's not too expensive, I'm thinking of using it down the allotment to establish pathways. :)

Yeah, although it was an American site I was able to search for the seed mix and found a UK supplier. ;D Should be okay for what I intend to use it for, i.e. 1.5 ft grass walkways. Was bothered about providing a home for Leather Jackets. >:( Hate the wee little bleeps!

The Canada grass did grow but it could not stand up to anything a little bit too dry or wet. Only seems to like perfect growing conditions in my experience and that is not what it says on the tin. Felt very let down as we had spurned much cheaper seed in the hope that this did something. I too like the look of Derek's link but for my back lawn - size of postage stamp and in dry shade >:(.
Canada grass, ie is the mix. is very very porr standard and wont grow in most conditions.
Like most things, the amount you pay for the seed,is usually always the quality you get.

Similar to the US seed mix, though it doesn't say how high it grows if you leave it... unless I didn't read it properly. Got attention span of.. erm.. something... what was I talking about again? ;)
Ad4, I agree with you, sow some CG on my Gran's lawn because it was 50% moss and was dying out. Not a sausage. Pulled the plug on it and replaced it with fancy gravel beds in the finish... :D
You ought to have seen it when, not thinking, I got the lawn mower out and tried to mow it... ;);D
