what would you have as your ideal band??
Which drummer??
Bassist??
Guitarist?
More guitarist?
Lead singer?
Etc..?
Then if you want to be more adventurous and give us more info on the band....type of music, what songs they would cover and even a band name!
grr, replied once, then told it was forbidden! Will try again!
Lead singers...Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Eckstine
Piano...Fats Domino, Jools Holland
Drums...Dave Grohl
guitar...Carlos Santana, BB King, Jimi Hendrix
Why, Ella I have worshipped since a child. Billy's voice I love (and have a soft spot as I worked with his son for a while). Fats and Jools are my own piano playing inspiration. Dave Grohl, foo fighters not Nirvana, is passionate about the drums and looks amazing! Carlos and BB make beautiful music from those instruments which are a real mystery to me and Jimi, well just because!
I find it hard to pick musicians from todays bands, plenty of singers, but not so many musicians, people who love their instruments and make amazing noises from them.
As for a name for that bunch.......an ecclectic noise I think!
Grrr EJ you have chosen all my favourites too...
ok
lead singers, Gloria Estefan (don;t even go there !!!), Annie Haslam, and Petra Berger
Piano, yes Jools ...
Guitar, Santana, Antonio Carlos Jobim, BB King ...
That is all, the jams between these people would be awesome.
As for a name ... Intonation ...
Derek on guitar,
undercarriage on flute
wardy on drums, (she's always banging on about something)
I play a wicked triangle.
We could do covers of the Loving Spoonful
But call ourselfs 'The Stinking Prongfull'
GLORIA ESTEFAN ??? ???
Why the ??? ??? sammyd ?
justa wonderin why you choose her
made me chuckle before i leave for work ;D
I'd go for Salif Keita, Lucky Dube and Peter Tosh; three forms of what's basically African music, and see what they'd make of it together.
that's a hard one... (I hope dead people are ok!)
Guitar would be a battle between Santana (from the 70s - not as he is now), Jimi Hendrix and Jerry Garcia
Piano - Cat Stevens or Tom Waits
Vocals - Jimi, Cat, Janis Joplin, Bjork
Actually no sod it - I just like to hear a jam between those guitarists! That would be mindblowing!
Ace, as long as my stage name wasn't Undercarriage Plan, I could hide behind the curtains with my back to the audience...no probs... ;D
As for the ideal band, can't choose, sorry! Still in a state of indecision, may be permanent.. :-\
Come on Aqui, make your mind up ... are you going for an all guitar band then?
okays here goes
drummer = Ginger Baker
Bass Guitar = Jean-Jacques (JJ) Burnel (the stranglers)
lead guitar = Gary Moore or Albert Collins
Vocals = JOSS STONE or Tom Jones
Piano/keyboard = Jools Holland
trumpet = Lois Armstrong
Violin = Nigel Kennedy
Harmonica = Mike Turk
Thats my line up but mahn they probbo wouldn't gel.. would love to hear Tom doing Parisienne Walkways with Gary on guitar and Jools on piano and fire nigel in there with the violin.. that would work..
EJ agree with you about Ella what a fantastic talent she was and truly awesum range, I am big fan of any duet of Ella with Lois Armstrong, those two together are simply phenomenal..

yeah - hell why not? You could join it.

Never heard of Mike Turk until just now Oz, but the sound samples are just amazing ... thanks for picking him !!!
As much as I would love to play alongside those fabulous musicians Aqui, I think I might be stretched just a little ...

I'm not sure how they would do together <shrug> could be a success. Can't think of a name but all that talent together is sheer musical royalty.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Chuckles.......nuff said YP!!!!!!
You not said anyone Katy? I thought you would have Steve Hackett as your guitarist anyway ...
Absolutely right Derek!!
But as for the rest........ooooooooh cant make up my mind!!
Like Ella, Joss Stone, the guy who was singer in Suede, erm...
Drums???? Too many to choose from!!
Am far too eclectic in my taste to choose just one of each!! Thats my excuse anyway!
Aha another Joss Stone fan eh, Oz introduced me to her the other day ... simply gobsmacked I was ...
Still can't get my ideal band together! Such a toughie is this one, Adam!
So far I have decided I would like
Drums - Roger Taylor (Queen) and/or Phil Collins
Guitar(s) - Mark Knopfler
Steve Hackett
and I think I might add The Delevantes!
Keyboards - Paul Carrack and/or Joshua Kadison/Barry Manilow
Vocals - definitely John Waite (with backing by The Delevantes - so useful, those brothers ;D )
Can't decide on a my bassist. I might have to hold auditions.
There you go Adam, your first audition !!!
