Title: Strawberries
Post by: Peapod on December 29, 2005, 23:41:20
I am looking for a variety with the traditional English early summer flavour, not those large watery types. I am growing on raised beds on heavy clay. Any suggestions most welcome.

I grow Bolero and Maxim on heavy clay, but not in raised beds. Both have good flavour. Bolero is an small/medium everbearer, fruiting from July to September, Maxim is large but still has good flavour and starts and finishes earlier.

I grow Honeoye strawberries.  They are very good on my light soil as well as being tasty and good for freezing,
