Pete. Would love to achieve being able to swim. I keep saying I will go for lesseons so that I can swim with Joshua when we go on holiday. 71 too old??

Tulip-23 Be VERY careful, I now have haunting powers, just got to look at my sat nav to find you 8)
Lorna ;) ;D ;D ;D
Whooooooooooooooooooo!! 8) GPS or Tom-Tom ;)
The satnav i am going to use is john's (son), just asked him & he said it is TomTom on a PDA (hand held computer thing).
Just asked him what the one is in his car & he sent me the details ??? ??? ??? Technology !
In-Car Computer or CARPUTER
Technical:
Mini ITX 1.3ghz board with 256 ram & 40gb laptop hard drive
Intelligent Power supply that hibernates & resumes the PC from ignition power (survives starting whilst booting).
display is a 7" touchscreen
Keyboard & mouse are there but only for modifications.
Wireless link to home router / PC for transfer of new MP3 / Avi
Software:
Barebones ripped down version of Win-XP home
Roadrunner front end which gives access to MP3 / Video / Satnav / Calc / Firefox / Email
Satnav: destinator (Tomtom does not run on WinXP systems, only WinCE) SHAME :(
I chose not to have any external drives (no CD, no FDD), instead i use either the wireless network, or a 256mb pen drive to transfer files.
The actual computer board, PSU, & Hard drive are all self built into an old cordless drill case, which is fitted in the very shallow boot of the car. All cabling etc taken up to where the original head unit was, now replaced by a touchscreen.
WHY ?? Ah! the big question.
Simple answer is because i wanted to & have a fascination for technology.
I have access to over 1200 MP3 files, 20 films & comedy clips, Pictures, and pretty much whatever else i need to amuse myself while the dragon is wasting money in Tesco's. Yes i *could* watch a film when i am driving, but never do. i *could* be nicked, but plodman is not going to be allowed to twiddle with my carputer to prove his point (password access to the flms).
Downsides: Satnav is not as good as Tomtom. If somebody wants me to play their disc, i can't (bloody godsend where mother is concerned). Screen sits proud of the dash, i must find time to mould it in properly. Car battery goes flat if not used for a week, PC is in permanent hibernation so does draw power.
Can it help you learn to swim though!
Pete the answer to that is NO but it will find me a route to the swimming baths ;D ;D
