Title: How do I know...
Post by: Annadl on December 23, 2005, 00:49:47
when my cucumber is ready?  I have one growing in a spiral & getting bigger all the time.  My little one removed all my labels and now don't know which one is which?

I don't have many so don't want to harvest it too early.

If you pinch out the top of the plant when it's 4 or 5 feet tall it will throw out side shoots and you'll end up with more cukes than you can handle. Unless you know you're growing a monster variety, 8-10 inches is as near ready as matters. If you leave them too long they tend to have large seeds so earlier is better.

Yikes the plant is only 8 inches tall  & the cuke almost the same size.  Don't know if it lebanese or bush cucumber.  Probably the latter due to the cukes size.  The other cuke plants are the same height with flowers on them ready to go.

I did plant burpless as well.

Thanks
