Title: Repairs to Briggs & Stratton
Post by: sunflower76 on December 18, 2005, 09:22:20
I have an old rotavotor which I bought from the local tip for a fiver. I have onyl managed to get it going once (with a lot of help) and I think it needs a service or overhaul to get it back into working order.

Does anyone know of anywhere that provides this? I am based in the midlands

Try lawnmower suppliers in the yellow pages, there's bound to be a dealer near you who'll service it. I know of at least two places in Nottingham. I think briggs and stratton are about the best brand to get parts for old machines too.

edit - if you can't see a briggs supplier locally, try phoning a mountfield dealer, I think they use briggs engines.

Hi Sunflower,
B & S engines are very simple to work on & are strong so should last for many years.
There is a number stamped on the 'blower housing'.
If you could post the full number, this will give much info. I restore B&S based Merry Tillers so may be able to help.
Where abouts are you?
What make is the tiller?

Henton & Chattell on london Raod in Nottingham should be able to help. They have spares for just abount everything. I've just got a 3.5 horse B & S rotivator to get going with the help of my wise old dad.

good luck
