Title: Christmas potatoes
Post by: plot51A on December 11, 2005, 19:22:04
Any one else tried theirs? I wasn't optimistic - ordered mine at the very last minute so they were late going in, planted them in my plot then realised should probably have put them in pots. But plants appeared, I tucked them up in fleece when it snowed - then went away on holiday. Couldn't resist having a dig around this weekend - and found some. Very small yield, but think they taste even better than in the spring. Have got plenty left to dig for Xmas lunch too.
Lessons for me:
Plant earlier
Save some tubers in the fridge from spring supply to avoid paying the ridiculous prices in the summer.
A worthwhile experiment for me. Have other people found the same? Would never have done it in the first place if it wasn't for this Board  ;D

I had a go, planted them in buckets in the greenhouse, but zilch ... I will try again next year ... I used international kidney.
