Spring bulbs - in full flower in December - the seasons have gone crazy.
Wow!! The seasons certainly are in a muddle!! I'm shrugging my shouders as to when to prune anything at the min!! Pretty though... ;D
Where are you? I've seen that in Cornwall.
OH said he saw butterflies in the garden today too...
(http://photobucket.com/albums/y31/GREENWIZARD/wowz.gif)~mine are also peeping through
I'm in Hertfordshire Robert in a village between Hatfield & Potters Bar. We quite often miss the worst of the weather here but I have never had spring bulbs flowering this early.
Garden Girl,
Hope you are not in the path of the of the 'plume' from Hemel. Here in Watford we were very soundly shaken awake!!
We certainly are Flowerlady - here's a shot of the cloud of smoke as it passed over our bungalow. Blocked out the sun and became quite dark for a while, but is drifting away a bit now. Could smell it when I took the shot.
So agree about the smell, was with us from very early this morning.
I have been watching the plume stretch across our sky getting so black at times. The film shots on the TV have been amazing. The glow in the dark quite stunning.
What will it do to all our allotments I wonder. The fall out in our vicinity's is going to be dire.
It would be. I used to live a couple of miles from a tyre dump in a derelict cinema in the middle of Lozells (what WERE the Council doing allowing one a mile or so from Birmingham city centre?). It was arsonised regularly; it must have been awful living there. I went past it going to work and that was pretty unpleasant at times. This must be infinitely worse.
I expect it is to do with gloabal warming GG and we can look forward to a climate similar to that of the south of france so we can, I was in devon a few weeks ago and I so couldn't believe the month was November and today has been absolutely gorgeous here in south wales.. although its an indoor plant.. I am really excited (oooer lol) as my pot hyacynths from what looked liked "dead" to me, have started sprout lil wee shoots and god I so love the smell of them so cant wait, but I know I have to, tis dead hard trying to bossy boots plants around.. they just have no respect for authority whatsoever... LOL maybe thats why I love gardening so much??????

:-* :-* :-*
Either that or the Gulf Stream will fail and we'll end up with a climate like that of Nova Scotia.
I planted some alliums in July, thinking they'd come up when the time was right. And they started growing in December, and don't seem to have been bothered by the frosts..
I'm intrigued when they're planning on flowering.
*boggle*

Well not even the scientists can agree on what is happening with the weather, so I have no chance ... but seeing stuff coming into flower isnt surprising me at all ...
I've got various assorted alliums coming up; some have, some haven't.
Even though it is a bit crazy to see that flowering this time of year GG, it is a delightful sight and fills me full of hope that we might have an early Spring. I do hate these dark days and long winter nights, so that lovely pure plant popping up really cheers me up. :) busy_lizzie
Yes BL - I must admit it brought a smile to my face with the thought of things to come. They usually have a lovely scent, but I forgot to check if it has, probably not at this time of the year.
Scent seems to be very dependent on the weather; last spring I had still damp days when the plot was full of a foxy scent from the crown imperials which I'd never really noticed before, then later on during the dry weather the roses had almost no scent at all.
I've got a clematis in flower, will try to get a pic later and the geraniums left in pots outside are still green and one of them has a bud, it was strange seeing it covered in snow.
That's amazing Val - how good to see those flowers at this time of the year :) I have just been out to check the progress of my early flowering Jonquil and look what it is doing now - with another bud coming up. I can't believe it, after all the cold weather we have been having. It is just getting dusk so the flowers show up really well I think.
Wonderful photograph, what kind of a camera are you using? Whose make?
Thanks flowerlady :) I am not using a particularly expensive camera. Kodak Easyshare CX4230 2.0.mega pixels.
