Title: Wellies...
Post by: miketaylor on December 09, 2005, 22:13:32
Hi team, now i've been very lucky and been bought a pair of wellies that have neoprene liners built in. Very warm, dry and comfy they are too. The only problem is, they are bugger to get off (imagine taking wellies off that you're wearing over a wetsuit). They are the right size and have plenty of room but getting them off is a pain. Am I the only person who has ever suffered this? the Home Office figures show 17,000 people injured themselves putting boots on or taking them off last year... I don't want to become a statistic.

By the way I'm new, have finally got the plot (after a five year wait) and in the last three weeks have cleared it, built five 8ft x 4ft raised beds out of 9x2 and tomorrow 700kg of deep black manure arrives on site.

A 5 year waiting list - cor blimey, you must be patient to wait that long, but then I don't suppose you had much choice really (how dumb can you be Delilah) :-[

congratulations anyway on the plot and best of luck with the wellies - I was going to suggest talc or welly puller offer thingies that DtF mentioned ;D

Thanks for all your help. I am now the proud owner of a very long boot horn (like a shoe horn). I helps to ge them on - AND OFF. If anyone wants to experience the problems I've had over the last couple of weeks just put a wetsuit boot on and then put your wellies on over the top. And the trick to not becoming a statistic is to ALWAYS sit down to take your boots off... thanks again for all the encouragement.

Exactly what I have been using since I was old enough to wear a pair of wellies, and being baorn on a farm that means I was in wellies as soon as I could walk.

Funny enough made on only a few weeks ago as the old one finally broke as the wood had rotted.

True Jen, but the world will always have its share of parasites, they are part of the natural order too I guess ...
