I put a trough of rocket on our balcony in the hope of having a few green things to eat. It hasn't grown into anything huge or amazing, but it's been covered in snow and had a few frosts - I've totally neglected it (apart from eating it) and it's still growing! At least I can pretend that I'm "eating my greens", scattering a few leaves in my dinner.
I love the stuff - good for you too :)
if it gets well below zero you might have to cover it with some fleece.
by the way, there is a perennial variety, much stronger in flavour and good to eat really only in spring. it is very frosthardy, as it is a native plant round here. (Dipoltaxis tenuifolia)
Rocket seems to grow anywhere I left mine to seed on the lotty and now everybody has a little patch????!!!!
I got my free packet of rocket seed this morning from the offer from the HDRA (now garden organic)Â I'd completely forgotten that I'd applied
I received mine today also Wardy. Hoorah for free seeds....like we need more!!! ;D ;D ;D
Mine arrived yesterday - very happy, did not grow Rocket this year.
Mine arrived today as well, which was a surprise as I'd forgotten I'd asked for them and was expecting it to be the peppers for the Gardeners World trial! I applied online within a minute of the programme ending but have heard nothing. Has anyone got the seeds yet?
I always get ridiculously excited whenever I get new seeds through the post. Daft innit ;D
No.
Does anyone want my pack ? I think rocket tastes like used cat litter.
Never grown rocket. Never tasted used cat litter ;D
Must try this year! (To grow rocket that is ;D)
