hi, could anybody tell me what wood treatment is safe to use on raised beds for veg. I would like to use the creosote substitute, does this have any harmfull nasty chemicals that would leach into the soil or could somebody recommend something else. thanks chuff ;D
Scandinavian hardwood? Link-a-brick or whatever it's called (ask Wardy, she'll be here in a minute)...
The substitute stuff should be safe as it replaces real creosote which is now deemed to be toxic. Link a bord TM :)
I agree with Wardy, although leaching may be a problem on a commercial scale, the amount that you will encounter can be regarded as insignificant. Note my careful choice of words ... :)

chestnut compound is the one as it is a natural preservative for wood.
