Well you could try Ponds and fish thread!!! Hahaha!!! erm sorry...but, worryingly, I know exactly what you mean, Delilah!! It's weird isn't it!! Glad it's not just me losing marbles!! But can't remember where it's dripping either.. ::) Is it continuous dripping or sporadic....?? And can you see any origin to drips? It's all very intriguing....keep me updated as to drip status and will check back with you....

Sporadic dripping with apparently no origin - even the dog is looking skywards for an explanation :o

There are big drips and little drips and occasional bursts of snow - I know it sounds to you saner peeps out there that this is rain But Lottie and I can assure it is DRIPS ???

Also this phenomenon (Very big word for me) is not specific to location (I'm in Lincolnshire and Lottie is...........  where are you lottie? was it Essex or Sussex can't remember, back of the class for you Delilah.

This could be a brand new weather term - DRIPS

Well...erm...no.... unless Essex is having a really strange weather phenomenem (better use spell check for that... ::)) We're both abit bemused as to the origin of dripping outside at the min, when it's not raining, no clouds and now wind...just drips..... There's a definite difference between raining and dripping...Delilah, help me here!! And just one more word and you're there!! Go gal!!

OMG what s wrong with me today I really can't string a sentance together, or atleast one that makes sense :o

I just seem to be digging myself into an ever deeper hole here Lottie!!!

Well, AIken, can't vouch for Delilah, what with sentence coordination probs and all..... ;) but have to inform you, that this is relatively normal thought process for me....but...due to cold weather...dripping has ceased! Though will be watching sky closely for the phenomenon of drip freeze...by 'eck it's cold this morning!!

don't think I've ever had a relatively normal thought process ???

Its bitter here too - hasn't got above freezing yet so no chance of dripping today!!!

Felt quite normal when I started the day but have been into town Chrissy shopping this morning and am now feeling completely unbalanced- shopping, it blows my mind how anybody can enjoy it!!

Perhaps I should try some of that "green" tobacco Aiken to restore my equilibrium :D

Erm.... I somehow feel that that probably wouldn't be a wise move as a cure for restoring equilibrium...... I could be wrong, let me know how that goes... ::) ;) Is sooo cold, but no snow, and no sign of drips, bit sad really, have done no Christmas shopping, will run around like mad thing in couple of weeks, prices coming down in shops already!!

I won't be going to the High Street again - I will get the rest of my shopping from Lincoln Christmas Market, there is always lots of mulled wine to be had there.

Why do the shops insist on piling so much stock onto the shop floor that you can't get around the displays without knocking something off   -    I REALLY HATE SHOPPING!!!!!!!

Calm down Delilah, you've done it now and don't have to go again for another 12 months

Dripping? Best way to cook chips, had traditional fish and chips cooked in dripping at the Black Country Museum in Doodlaaaaay .... during the summer, when we had our technicians outing ...
Needless to say, they were positively divine ! mmmm...

No drips only huge hailstones today and bought 2 more pressies - but it doesn't count as shopping because I bought them from the Farmers Market this morning :)

I did make some rhubard wine this year, bottled it in September but the recipe said not to drink for atleast 6 months -  I'm waiting patiently!!
Title: Re: Lottie - Its Dripping
Post by: AikenDrum on November 26, 2005, 16:36:54
Delilah, assuming you made a minimum of 1 gallon, that should yield 6 bottles  ... bottled in September  ... go on, just have a sip from one bottle !  .. just to make sure it's not too bitter/sweet of course    ;D

N.B. Remember all that silly fad that we all used to slavishly follow about getting the first "young" beaujolais ?  I'll bet the French had a really good laugh at that all the way to the bank !

Too right Aiken, wine is for drinking after all!

Delilah, keep a couple of bottles to age for 6 months, drink the rest now !!!

I remember it well Aiken!! LOL! Used to work at Pub, and Landlord would make mad dash to get to France and bring it back, race home, open bottle share it out and all go "Mmmmmmm" and I'd be going "Euuuuuuu!" whilst smiling bravely... and racing to loo to spit it out! :P ;D ;)

I found out some years ago that the French used what wasn't bought by us Brits for silly money, was turned into wine vinegar  ... allways thought that that's what it was anyway !    ;D

Post by: undercarriage plan on November 27, 2005, 09:30:42
Well, am soooo not surprised!! Had that slight vinegary twang to it!! Is amazing what people will do when following trends!! Should have just sent the vinegar.....they'd still have drunk it!  ::) ;D ;)

Yes, it's not surprising when you see the prices charged in the local supermarkets in France for simple wines, about the same price as vinegar here ...

From someone who doesn't drink alcohol you are sure good at the temptation lark.

Guess I will have to stick to dipping my stick of rubarb in a cup of sugar like we used to do as kids  ;D

Only made 1 gallon Derek - Hubby has just been teasing me because I don't actually like rhubarb but he has kept on growing it year after year and we have been giving it away but this year I decided to give wine a try so he has been winding me up saying

"all these years you've been complaining about the rhubarb and just look what you've been missing"

think it will be many gallons next year......hic.....hic   don't tell OH but we might need to grow more rhubarb!!!!
Title: Re: Lottie - Its Dripping
Post by: Derekthefox on November 27, 2005, 20:14:38
Yes, thought that might be the outcome, I started with one gallon this year, then when that disappeared almost immediately, made another three gallons. I have even had a second opinion on how good it is ...  ;D
I am also making some pumpkin, and some carrot, but I don't reckon they can match the rhubarb for all round deliciousness !!!

My second opinion didn't agree with me Derek - OH didn't like very much but thats OK cos then theres all the more for me!!! ;D

Lottie - forget the dripping we've got HUGE snowflakes, how exciting is that :D :D :D

Delilah, I have just realised I made a grammatical error, I should have said I have had a THIRD opinion on how good it is ... glad to hear that you will get more of the wine to yourself  ;D

Snow is settling here too ...
