Title: its been a while
Post by: David R on November 21, 2005, 15:51:08
been away for a few months while my wife gave birth to our lovely son, so been somewhat busy!

Spent the whole weekend on the lottie and eventually managed to plant garlic (supermarket Spanish).

Its good to be back. This weekend will be back to weeding, digging and tidying.

Gutted about my frosted butternuts, 8 got turned to mush, left them 4 days too long.

Back to the garlic though, I had a miserable time trying to find sets at the garden centre, seems they are only concerned with selling xmas decorations than plants. So, I decided to try the supermarket for organic locally grown, no luck there, so had to settle for the Spanish type. Does anyone know if these will be hardy enough to survive the winter or should I keep trying other means.

Congrats on the birth of your son hope He and both of you are well, totally agree about garden centres to busy selling everything else bar what they should be selling, oh why can't shops etc go back to selling what they are supposed to sell.  i.e  greengrocers selling fruit and veg, garages selling petrol and butchers selling meat.

Never mind about yer garlic what about that new baby eh.  Well done you.  Hope everyone is fit and well and you'll soon have latest sproglet in wellingtons :)

Not so sure about that Wardy - I have read that breastmilk containing garlic eaten by the mother is meant to be really good for junior.  It's not done any of ours any harm.

PS Big congrats

Great stuff - a little helper in a few years. Like everyone else, can't help with the garlic question! It's been a while for me too as I've just moved. Had to leave the old lottie behind, but looking forward to a new one. Hope the soil is as good as before!

Good luck with Baby David!! ;D

Congratulations, Dave.

What a fine looking young chap.  And such a healthy head of hair, for five months!

It's good to know that there are others out there growing little things to put on allotments!  My Little Flower is hopefully going to spend her weekends on our Lottie, once the good weather sets in (probably around June time, if the Weathermen are to be believed!) ;)

Well done again!
