Title: Dwarf sprouts
Post by: Sarah-b on November 15, 2005, 14:09:25
Thinking about next years sprouts (starting to spend too long perusing seed catalogues again!!):
We battled to protect our sprouts from the pigeons (Enemy Number 1). And am thinking it would have been easier if they weren't 3-4 ft tall.
Has anyone tried dwarf sprouts? are they as good? do you get serously lots less per plant? (I noted that with broad beans, that isn't necessarily the casehow tall are they? and which variety would anyone recommend?

Thanks,
Sarah.

No idea on dwarf sprouts, but I have grown 'Brilliant' this year (Edwin Tuckers seed) and they are short plants, much more compact between 2 and 3 foot tall, where as the redball sprouts are standing at 5 foot now!!!  They are packed with big lovely green sweet sprouts and I would heartily recommend them.
