Glad I'm not the only one.  The kids know when breakfast is ready when the fire alarm starts bleeping!

I burned toast the other day when I had a guest in for brekky.  So embarrassing.  My toaster has stopped popping up on its own  >:(  Luckily kitchen was only slightly smoke-filled and the alarm didn't go off which is just as well as the dog absolutely panics.  I have to let him out of the house and he won't come back in for ages so I have to let him get in my car.  I think these alarms really hurt dogs ears.  Don't do mine much good either  ;D

Of all the 'burnt' goods that can be accidentally created in a kitchen, is there any worse smell than burned potatoes ... ?

It turns my stomach, so yes I have forgotten and boiled the pan dry ...

Then comes trying to get the pan clean again!

My toast is burnt every morning - the sprogs like theirs only just brown so they make theirs first with the dial turned to number 2, then I come along put my toast in, up it pops and its not brown enough for me so a pop it down again forget about it and surprise surpise it burns.

You would think I'd have learnt by now and not make the same mistake day after day - not the brightest spark on the planet am I. ::)

Tim oh errrr, bet you can still smell it!
Derek, has to be burnt hard boiled eggs for me :P  :P  :P
I actually LIKE burnt toast, as a child my Mum had to burn it for me or I wouldn't eat it! :)  Now I like it well done, but if it is burnt, just scraped is fine by me!

Yes scorched eggs are offputting too!  ;D

I use stainless steel pans now Delilah, which are as hard as nails, so I can really get the scourer going on them ... and it is quite satisfying to get the pan clean again after the repusive mess that was in there !

Isn't burnt toast supposed to make your hair curl. :o

And heating coke (the drinking kind !) in the bottom of the burnt pan is supposed to get it clean - so they say.

Well that explains my unruly mop of hair then!!

I boil up wash powder in the burnt pan and simmer until clean - comes up a treat  :)
