I have badgers visiting my plot, at the mo there only damaging the black polythene that I have put down to suppress weeds and leaving me the odd little parcell :o are they going to cause problems in the future? has anybody else got badgers?
They can become a nuisance later in the year as they can develop a taste for some crops such as sweetcorn, tomatoes, cabbage, etc.
They are also very effective earth moving equipment and can dig up stuff as they hunt for slugs and worms.
As to how you stop them, well it is very hard as they can get through chicken wire very easily.

Badgers, oh you lucky thing chuff. I would love to have them visit my plot, I would happily put up with any damage they might do. I would never think of them as foe
MM
Badgers are protected species, so there's a limited amount you can do to keep them away (if you really want to keep them away, that is - like Merlins mum I'd rather put up with any damage they might do!).
The National Federation of Badger Groups has an advice booklet for gardeners - go to http://www.nfbg.org.uk/ and click on "badgers - your questions answered" to find out about it/see a PDF version.
blimey!
i'd give my right arm to have badgers around-lovely they are!
Badgers = Can be pest but are a big friend in my eyes!
The_Snail
Personally I think people are far bigger pests

hi wardola!
thanks fer asking-come december-i have it all out and a nice gas fire put in! ;D
still clinging to the wreckage..had a reasonable season-all things considered. ::)
veggies grew and grew without my interference ...theres a lesson for next year there i think...dont fiddle with yer veg!it'll do fine by its self!
i am going to try and visit here more often....tis me busy season(hopefully)but i miss digging about in the soil!cant wait for next year ...
;D
I'm Really chuffed ;D I would like to get some photos but it will mean getting up at the crack of dawn and venturing down there in the dark or sleeping in the shed over night which I don't really fancy, any ideas anyone
well...you could observe at the other end of the day chuff...stay there while it is twilight... they come out then...
Kitty's got the right idea, but get yourself settled before twilight. I'd also be a bit careful who you told about them, as unfortunately there are too many who wish them harm. For one thing although illegal, badger baiting still goes on.
MM
i'm all for a bit of people baiting meself! ;)
evening mm! ;D
