I did too Lorna - I used the slideshow and very pleasant it was too.  Your garden is crammed full of interesting plants and lots to see at this time of year which is always a bonus.  I like your sedums.  What's that autumnal shrub in the pot?  Fothergilla?  Do you rate the evergreen clematis and do you reckon it's a good one to have?  I have a very windy garden and I would like an evergreen clem but wonder if it would be hardy enough?  I like white fuchsias and I see you have one.  Gardens can be very dark at this time of year and the white plants show up better so I'm aiming for more.  I like your various leaf shapes too.  What are the trees GC?  Where they there before your garden?

Thanks for sharing your lovely garden with us  :)

:-[ :-[ :-[ Glad you like the photos and the garden.

Wardy: Yes the shrub in the pot is fothergillia (sp?) I have it in a pot because my soil is quite alkaline and they arent supposed to like that. The clematis is (as you have probably guessed) an armandii. Its growing in a southwest facing position and is fairly well sheltered. My Dorset garden is quite mild (average min temp in winter about -5c), so i dont know how well it would do in your garden, though I suppose if you give it a warm, sunny and sheltered site it would do OK. Mine does more than OK, its so happy its nearly as vigourous as the montanas I have growing nearby. Last spring I had to cut it back hard because it was geting out of hand! Dont panic though, this is probably due to the climate here and not the plant per se.

The trees are fairly standard scots pines and yes they do predate the house. there is a belt of them running all along the back of our estate (which is about 40 years old). I did hear once that they were supposed to be about 90 years old (planted during WW1), but i am doubtfull of this - the trunks dont look thick enough for that age, but i could be wrong.

I think thats answered all your questions. Glad you liked the pictures.
