What a glorious crisp morning - just taken dog for a nice long run - and all inspired to dig, compost, mow grass etc. etc. definite gardening day for me!

Me too! I feel deperate for the exercise (which means I probablywon't be able to move later...I'll let you know!) Strawberry patch here I come.
I've just seen the weather forecast and it looks like it might get mighty cold tonight (down as low as 3 degrees north of Watford! :o) so the toms are coming up today ready or not. They ripen OK in the kitchen, I find. That means I have to get the manure in the the broadies as well. Busy weekend ahead, I think.
Ooh - better get the tender plants back in the greenie too! No slacking for us lottie holders, for sure. Catch up with you later. :)
done 3 hours of digging this morning - such a difference compared to last week! but then i thought i'd better come home and put the washing out (sad eh?). plan to spend all day down there tomorrow, should get a fair chunk dug over and weeded.
have been offered my first spring cabbage plants by my next door neighbour who came down and did a full inspection of my plot this morning :D so i need to get a bit of ground ready for them. wasn't gonna grow cabbages but what the hell, its something i can grow now!

I'm back, too - three and a half hours of plant pulling and digging but I needed some lunch. All that exercise certainly works up the appetite!
Good call on the cabbages, legless! They keep the soil occupied and help break it down whilst they are growing (if nothing else). If you don't like to eat them, them will eventually make good compost, right?
I've already put the washing out ;), but I DO need to do the washing up! I find housework really irritating as it takes up gardening time!
Which is why from april till november my house is a health hazard.
Sorry - what is housework exactly?? I've given up everything that I can give up without social services being called in. For example, I haven't ironed since before I was pregnant with my son (who is now 3 and a half) - kids, husband and me have all survived, crumpled but happy - just don't buy anything without lycra in it and you'll be fine!!!. 3 yr old doesn't care, husband and 18yr old daughter quite capable of doing their own!! I'd rather be digging!
