Title: Do birds smell?
Post by: kenkew on November 03, 2005, 19:39:21
I mean, do birds have a sence of smell? If I use something with a bit of a pong to it to keep the cats off, will it also keep the birds away?
(Hello again by the way.)

No, they havent got a sense of smell.

Nice seeing you back Ken!  Have you got yourself moved over to home ground again and how did you get on insuring and transferring your car.  Hope everything has gone well for you.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Since typing this, I now find out that some birds do have a sense of smell so I was wrong.   Sea birds, starlings and so on.

Hey-up Carol. Back in Belgium....(I gott-a plan in mind!) The car saga...sish!! Me is going to write a book about me and call it 'ME'. You can have a copy for nowt if/when it's done. Might start it off with my first trip to the gas-works to nick coke for the fire in a pram with three wheels. Either that of the times I threw stones at the steam trains trying to get the fireman to throw coal back at me to take home!
Nice to see some familiar faces.

Some birds can smell, some can't. Old-World vultures have no sense of smell, but New-World vultures, which are not related, have a very keen sense of smell which they use to find carrion.

When you look at what our hens will eat, you begin to wonder if they have even a sense of taste.
Welcome back Ken.

Hi Ken!!!

I've been missing for a while too so it's great to come back and see you're here as well.  :D If you DO ever write that book I wanna copy too!!!!!! Think it would have me in stitches.  ;D

Speaking of stitches, well, things medical...I broke my ankle in August fairy jumping down the crag-side, you know, bounce off the heather and reach 6ft then bounce again....snag is, one bunch of heather wasn't very big...huge rock underneath....ouch...hospital visit was a tale all by itself, then the trip back to Belgium...then the hospital here, then me sawing off the plaster cast, then me.....Ah! Well...I'll get round to telling that saga one day.
