Title: Lapageria Rosea (Chilean bellflower)
Post by: Georgie on November 01, 2005, 20:15:26
Hi.  I have a sheltered shady spot and I'm tempted to try this gorgeous climber.  The only problem is that it will have to be grown in a pot.  I know it's not an 'easy' plant and that seeds/plants are expensive.  Should I give it a go or am I doomed to failure?

Just in case anyone is interested, I've managed to find out some more information about this plant.  According to Thompson and Morgan, it makes an ideal pot plant.   :)  What's more, as their offer this season is 'your most expensive packet of seed free', I haven't had to pay a penny for it!   ;D

G forgot to say!! Hold fire on ordering, may be able to get you some. It had huge seed pods on it, loads of them, but no idea how viable they'd be. If you like will ask him, he's nice man, bound to say yes, am bit slow this PM!!!

You can get them from Chilterns seeds as well for £5.32 per packet of 5.

I was sorely tempted, but they don't appear to be scented (boo hoo!)   :-[

Hey folks.  The seed arrived today and guess what?  Two little foils in one paper packet an a whopping 16 seeds, not 5, and all for free.  :D  I've got 6 seeds soaking in tepid water at the moment and now have 2 packets of 5 seeds spare for the first two takers.
