Post by: KevB on November 01, 2005, 08:34:12
Hi All
I've spent quite some time going through Peter Nyssen Bulb catalogue and finally arrived at what my order will be!! Now the question is when should the order be placed as i suppose now may not be the practical time to order at all, but when is??

I'd have thought you could order that lot now; I grow most of them and I'd be quite happy moving them this time of year. If you're not sure, Email them and ask.

All except the Cyclamen persicum and  the Agapanthus should be planted out now or even earlier. Those two are tender and should be potted up rather than planted out (unless you live in a frost free part of the world that is). If delivery is slow then you may have problems bu the way things are at present the soil should stay workable for planting for some time. Price looks really good.

Strange you should say that about the Agapanthus Eric as I have one in a pot which has been left out for the past three winters and has flowered better each year.  Mind you, it is in a fairly sheltered part of the garden during the winter months up against a wall.  Variety I have is the blue one 'Agapanthus headbourne'.

Kev, the old boy I garden for was told by the bulb company he places order with, and sorry can't remember who, to order them by May, for delivery in September!! His order for this season was very late arriving and he'd placed it by July!  Hope this helps.
