Those lovely frozen blocks of ice called Jubblys that took about a week to eat are still readily available at your local Asda! (no, I dont have shares in them!) In all sorts of flavours too! I used to love the orange ones ;D I remember them being just 5p each (and leaning so far into the bottom of the shop freezer, my feet came off the ground)
I bet they are not the same Jubbly's/jubblees as the ones you could buy some 50 years ago. I remember them when I was around 5 or 6ish. Snowfruits (lollies) were another favourite. Gosh, I can taste them now. Such happy memories.

l always remember the penny bars of chocolate from the newsagent round the corner. They eventually went up to tuppence, and my mother didn't buy them any more.

Those little penny chocolate bars were much nicer than what you get now, the Cadbury ones covered in printed foil, yummy.
I loved Palm Toffee Banana Split too. Our neighbour always brought it when she came to babysit and we played Monopoly - those were the days..

I live in Chesterfield - the home of Trebor Sharps. Unfortunately our lovely purveyor of sweets has finally closed its doors after a hundred or so years of rotting the local's teeth ;D When arriving by train to Chesterfield you could smell the factory, and all the locals knew what was being cooked, the best smell was Sherbet Lemons. They used lemon oil for these and the smell used to be fantastic. Everyone's peeps used to work their and on Friday they got a couple of free bags with their wages (greaseproof brown bags :)) full of chocolate pips and such. The Black Jacks were my faves and the cough candy twists. They even made Swisskits for a time not to mention Extra Strong Mints and those lovely softmints. Ah happy days ;D Oh I just remembered I worked there for a week in the office. Yuk!

I went to school at St Helena's which was right next door - torture. Sometimes it was so pervasive you couldn't concentrate!
