Awwww, what a lovely week, well 5 days, away in not very sunny North Devon with the 'olds'. We were well looked after, and managed to have a Mr Hockings ice cream every day!!!! For those of you who don't know, Mr Hockings makes the BEST ice cream in the world EVER! ;D
And a lucky buy...went into one of my nans fave stores in Barnstaple, 'Bryan Fords' and he had a crate full of last years flower seeds at a penny a packet! Daughter number one grabbed a handful ;D. Hoorah!
So that's where you've been!!
Glad you had a nice time....I'd never heard of Mr Hockings so will keep my eyes open from now on.
We went to Barnstaple last year, it was really lovely. Any pics for us EJ?
Welcome back EJ :)
Just thought - best ice-cream? Mrs Perry-Bolt - on the sea side of the High St - in Bude in the '30s!!
Usually a fourpenny mixed - large cornet with dollops of vanilla & strawberry.
Glad you all had a nice break EJ.. As aussie chick said " Any pics?"
Lorna.
Helloooo! :D
Flowers were a bargain, bet they germinate just as well as this years too.
Thought I hadn't seen you here for a while EJ. Glad you are back and had a nice holiday. When my sister lived in Devon we went to Barnstable for a day out, but it rained all day. Lucky you with the seeds. Do they still have the street of butcher shops? We were very fond of Dawlish where my sister used to work and used to visit there a lot. :) busy_lizzie
Still a fair few butchers BL. There is a huge Bypass being built to be finished in 2007. Wonder if it will help....the traffic going into Barnstaple is a nightmare! Fingers crossed!!
Pics, The infamous Mr Hockings. The icecream is rich and devine, and to make matters worse, you can have a big dollop of extra clotted cream on the top! Heaven! When I venture to that big allotment in the sky, my darlings instructions are to take me in my urn to Westward Ho!, and scatter me to the wind, whilst eating a hockings icecream. Just hope he makes sure he is facing downwind!! ;D

(http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a364/Mrsava/driving_test.jpg) Took the little darlings to The Milky Way, an all weather indoor amusement type place. Lots to see and do all in one place for one price. Kept them running around all day long! Lots of fabulous old farm machines for them tl clamber on!
Also took the kids to The Big Sheep where we watched shearing and saw lots of different breeds and learnt about the wool and the milk and the meat.......I am a mind of useless information now! ;D ;D
Thanks for the pictures. The icecreams even look yum!
Sheep shearing is great, did you get to touch the wool and smell it! devine.
Daughter number one came home with her pockets stuffed full of the wool Aussie! After the sheep show the poor creatures were left on their pedastools and we were able to go down and have a stroke. A friendly bunch.....fortunately! The shearer was a good looking local boy.....local to Perth!!!! ;D
Yeh, they usually are aussies or kiwis! they are good shearers, fast and cheap!
Really glad you had a good time! ;D
Hi Emma nice to see you back ,glad you had a nice holiday. ;D ;D
Yes, EJ, nice to see you back, and pleased that you had a good time ...
Derekthefox :D
Hi there Emma - glad you've all had a good time. Loved the pics. I remember going to Barnstaple years ago while on a coach touring holiday - can remember loads & loads of shops with sheepskins in them!!
