Title: this is a no-brainer
Post by: terrace max on October 27, 2005, 20:58:23
I'm a blithering idiot when it comes to my PC: I just hope for the best and comprehend very little.

But my 4 year old son wants to know why some of the windows he opens from web pages on the Cbeebies website - as a 'full screen' option - are too big for Daddy's monitor. Some of the data - often a crucial bit of text about, say, Big Chef Little Chef - is out of reach off the bottom of the screen and the window doesn't allow you to scroll down...

Please help - I was hoping to get him to his fifth birthday still thinking I was omniscient...

Try clicking the centre button of the top 3, i.e. minimise, centre one . close this should enable you to view all the page, and depending which browser you are using you can click on the viwe menu at the top of the browser bar and look for a menu to make the page fit the window

Thank you all.

It strikes me I did change my monitor recently. Could my browser think I have a bigger one than I actually have (so to speak)?

May well be your screen resolution as Jaggy suggested, Terrace Max, partic if you've changed your monitor recently.  I've found that running with a 1076x768 resolution is good for most websites (if not then I put it down to bad website design).  To check you need to find Control Panel, Display Properties, Settings, Screen Resolution.  If it's set at 800x600 pixels, then move the slide upwards a bit.

Thanks Jill for typing all that - it worked! Cbeebies is now revealed in all its glory...and I'll tell Thomas that his friends at A4A sorted it out...

He can still rely on his Dad to answer most of his other questions though, like 'What do anteaters eat?'  :)
