A warning for anyone as stupid as me: I purchased a spaghetti squash (not a pumpkin, I know) and I was reccommended to bake it whole. I thought I'd microwave it instead.
I heard a loud "BANG" from the kitchen and found the squash had blown up inside the microwave!
The exploded remains tasted very nice, and for those interested in experimenting, it takes about 13 minutes to explode a squash!
My girlfriend found that Bristol Zoo was selling bags of interesting squashes really cheap - don't know why, or whether they'll taste any good.
Next year we hope to have grown our own pile of pumpies!
Happy squashing!
Even when you boil it whole you're supposed to pierce it from sie to side with a skewer. When cooked, you cut t in half, scoop out the seeds and then shred th eflesh with a fork into a warm dish and add lashings of butter and black pepper. It strings like spaghetti, hence the name.
I once saw someone heat a Scotch egg in a microwave. Not a pretty sight, or smell.
According to Steve Wright in the afternoon, grapes explode well too! ;D
You guys have been watching too much brainiac.
I can do science me! ;D
