Title: Idea for protecting runner beans early in the year.
Post by: the_snail on October 20, 2005, 18:10:23
Following the now axed BBC2 program The Big Dig, and the gentleman who was protexting his runner bean seedlings with sheets of glass leaning up against his canes. If you have not got glass then why not use a cheap role of clingfilm wrapped around your cane supports. It would be safer than glass also. I know you may have to spend a pound or so but it is an idea. Not tried it yet though.

Axed!? I wondered why Flog It was on my video today, and not The Big Dig - only managed to tape one episode yesterday, and thought it was quite good. May be it'll turn up again in an even more off-peak time, like 2AM on BBC3.............

I think the cling film might work if you done an few layers and sellotaped it to the canes.  Deffo a 2 person job.  I remember trying to use fleece in a gale and it nearly ended up on the A2  :o
