Title: Good home needed...
Post by: Georgie on October 18, 2005, 22:12:31
...for about 200 litres of spent potting compost.  Yes, I know it's an excellent soil improver but I have no use for it in my tiny garden.  I have no allotments near me as far as I know and the council won't recycle it.  Any ideas on how I can find someone to put it to good use?

Your local dump should have a facility to take garden waste.  I'm sure if you have some lotties near you someone will take it off your hands for composting

Georgie  Your local council web site will have details of all its allotments in N London  :)

Hi wardy.  In my area the council collect green waste on a weekly basis but they won't take soil.  :(  So I've taken you up on your suggestion and e-mailed the council folk who look after allotments asking if they they would like to take it off my hands.  Not holding my breath but I'll let you know.   ;D

Hi Amazin

I'll PM you later but consider it yours.   ;D

Wardy

Got a reply from the council today.  Here's an extract:

I have contacted local allotment site secretaries, thank you for the offer but unfortunately they are reluctant to take the compost because they do not know the contents. I did offer to investigate, however they refused the offer. Sorry.

Suspicious lot, aren't they?   ;)
