Title: Mould on bulbs
Post by: EmmaLou on October 15, 2005, 17:09:13
Can anyone help me with this? I have found that a lot of the bulbs I have are suffering from a blue/green mould. Will this affect them? Can I still plant them? It is on my daffs and also garlic.

Hi EmmaLou,
I would separate the garlic bulbs into individual cloves lay them on a tray in the greenhouse or some where dry for a week or so.

It sounds as if they are damp and therefore attracting mould. ;)

I had the same problem when I harvested my garlic in July, the bulbs were ok at first but  then started to develop the same condition. :(

This action saved my first ever crop of garlic which I will be enjoying for a few months to come. ;D

the daffs bulbs are probably suffering from the same damp conditions.

Daff bulbs once you have dried them you can powder with yellow sulphur powder to prevent rot bu NOT on the garlic :)
