Just decided to buy a new toy.
Here are a few of my first attempts at trying to use it.

DD can you give me lessons please?? Last week when I was in Kent I took photo of one of my nephews so that my kids could see a cousin they have never met. When I downloaded I had cut his head off ;D Very nice pics .(yours I mean) Lorna.
Wow, DD! They're excellent, so sharp and clear....hoping to get one for **th birthday. What type did you get? Thanks Lottie
DD I absolutely love your close up of the carnation petals. Beautiful. Can we have some more close ups with your new toy ?!
Thanks for the kind comments, Lottie the one I opted for was the Sony cybershot W7. Its not got a great magnification on the lens but it gives you a massive 7.2 megapixel image. I paid £211 for it, just need to buy a memory stick now.
Reasoning for the smaller camera is convenience on holidays and special occasions, DSLR a bit of a handfull.
I hope to take some better photos asap.
DD
Thanks DD! Have left postits all round house, for OH to find! Failing this, will write it on his forehead.. ;D Lottie
Lovely photos - if that's how you start off "learning" I'm giving up!!!
my favs the pink tutu :)
Plocket come on thats not the altitude ;D
Took this photo whilst fishing on Saturday evening, slightly fooled the camera on the water colour. After all it is the Bristol channel. Seems like the sky has somehow become reflected on the water.

He he he! Actually I'm not too bad - I'm delighted with my Kew photos. ;)
Dirk.....for your memory card...try 7dayshop.com...... 256 for £26.99
Not then Glynn, had a small Bass the previous week. Too small to eat though, so returned for another day or Spanish trawler somewhere.
Thanks for the info jaggythistle, found a good site called www.picstop.co.uk

you're so clever dd......you can even make pylons look attractive ;D ;D
QuoteSmall crop from one of my other Lily photos
~excellent :) love the intense orange of the anthers
Took this image about 10 minutes ago. Its part of a fullsize 7.2mp photo( I would say about a 1/3 of the full image). Not sure if any better than at small 1mp but gives you the option of seeing a photo within the photo(IE crop out what you don't want). (mp=mega pixel)

Chrysanthemum my fav this time :)
Which one is that ? the white one ?
Depending on weather and work, hope to get out and about for some autumn colours.
Night night, early start tomorrow.

sleep tight :)
Took the camera over the allotment Saturday, suprised the garlic has popped up quite so fast, its only been in less than 2 weeks. Still not complaining!!! I think there are about 40 little gems popped up in total.

just lovely dd :)
DD and Tim your pics are both lovely very clear , have lots of fun with your new toys
Last post from me about my new toy. Very pleased with the macro facility, having 7.2 megapixel images allows you to cut the photo to show pictures from within the picture.
Hope you like.

I mentioned one nice thing about the Fuji 5600 - the zoom.
Pity I didn't use a tripod!! Distance? About 3/4 mile.
Hi Tim, my cousin has the very same camera. His photos have improved so much.
Seems to me not so much camera shake(slow shutter on large zoom lens). Looks to me its focusing on the building and tree to the right. If you can set the focusing point manually to just the center, could improve your distance photos.
When on auto focus it usually focuses on the nearest point the live sensors cross.
If you do experience camera shake in future try and remember to use a shutter speed faster than the length of lens you are using. An example if your zoom at full magnification is about the equivalent of 450mm on a normal 35mm camera, you must try and use a shutter speed faster than say 1/500 sec.
Have another go see if it works. Or as you said use a tripod, or beanbag placed on a wall camera fired by self timer.
All should work.
DD
Yes - and all of that! It was dull, & shooting at about 125th. Not good enough for my built-in whisky tremor!! And, of course, if you happen to press half down when your wanderings are passing a building, that's the focus you get. And the angle of twitch between the sheep & houses was virtually nil.
It was the first morning, doing random shots, to see whether all the functions functioned. I like to complain early if I'm going to do it.
As I mentioned elsewhere. the one thing I bought it for - clear through-the-lens focussing - for daughter's portrait work - it doesn't have. How stupid can one be?
Seven operations to focus, & if you move a fraction in the process, it un-focusses!!Or do I mis-read it?
And there's nowhere for a comfortable left-hand grip without covering the pop-up flash. But then, was anything perfect?
Went over to a very wet allotment today. Saw our local enemy's lurking in the tree. Colour of sky a little different.

Wonderful pictures DD. I am thinking of buying myself a digital camera and the one you have fits the bill. Do you have a Opteka High Definition 10x Pro Macro Lens for it or were the photo's just taken with the 3 x magnification lens which comes as standard on the camera? I don't know a lot about digital cameras but searched for Sony Cybershot W7 on E Bay and found the lens for sale.
I wonder if Santa will be good to me this year?? :)
Hi Paulines7,
the macro images were taken with the standard camera in macro mode.
Bought it by recommendation myself and very pleased with the results.
I also own a digital SLR, but its too much to carry most of the time. The Sony W7 is really to use as a holiday and general purpose camera, needless to say have used it most of the time at the moment.
Hope to post some non macro photos asap.
DD
Thanks for your reply DD. The more I hear about this camera the more convinced I am that it is the one for me. I would like to take close up pictures of some of the beautiful moths and other insects that frequent my garden. I will have to pay my £10 then so I can share the pictures with everyone on this forum.
