Title: Garden Tips Link
Post by: EmmaLou on October 13, 2005, 21:40:51
Hi!

Found this Garden tips page and thought you might find it interesting.

http://www.easyways.net/Garden.shtml

I particularly found the tip about using full strength vinegar to kill weeds interesting - have any of you used this method?

Vinegar's dilute acetic acid, and I can well imagine it killing weeds! It's pretty poisonous stuff really.

Good site, few things I hadn't thought of on there.

I tried full strength vinegar on Docks growing in my driveway but it didn't work.   >:(

Perhaps I didn't use enough?  I just made sure every leaf was thoroughly soaked.  Or perhaps I needed to repeat the treatment regularly?  Any advice would be welcome - I won't use weedkillers.

Try salt on the weeds in your grass.

Vinegar is what I put on my chips - it won't kill weeds for me.   ;)  What I meant was, I don't want to use proprietary weedkillers/harmful chemicals as I try to be organic.  But these docks are growing up through cracks in the edge of the drive and no matter how much I cut them down they keep coming back.  I can't dig them out as there isn't room.
