By a strange co-incidence, someone has just posted this on the BBC messageboard - it's taken from the National Trust site, apparently:

Can you grow two-legged, bearded carrots? Or potatoes resembling camels? Corkscrew runner beans and ridiculous radishes?

All fruit and veg are individual and we cannot always predict how they will turn out. Many retailers place an ever-increasing emphasis on ‘perfect’ looking fruit and vegetables, believing that is what the consumer prefers.

It's time to dig for victory, and celebrate ugly fruit and vegetables, which taste great but are usually rejected for their looks and size. Enter your ugly veg into the year-long Ugly Veg Competition, and be in for a chance to win a day with a National Trust Gardener, to advise and help you with their garden and growing queries. Other prizes include: a veg box for a year, composters and organic picnics for schools."

Not sure yours qualifies as ugly, Lottie, but it's certainly two-legged :D! - might be worth entering ... ?!
