Title: Planting onions....
Post by: ChrisH on October 07, 2005, 21:23:44
The onions arrived yesterday and was just wondering how long I have to get them planted?

I still need to dig the weeds out :) as I an currently digging over a part to plant carrots (I hope its not too late)

also should I start the onions off in trays to help them root quicker?

If it was me, depneding on the onion sets you have ordered, I would put the bed down to onions and wait until spring to sow the carrots.

October is great to plant over winter onion sets but not so good for carrots.

Forget the carrots, concentrate on the onions. Just plant them as you clear the space, they won't come to any harm if they're in a cool place.

Thanks.

I will start on the onion bed, once it stops raining.

btw they are Radar.

My Spring onion seed (ishikuro) just arrived so the onion bed is now first on the list to dig.
