Title: Gourmet salad
Post by: Annadl on October 06, 2005, 15:56:10
Had my first 'dish' from my garden today!!

Gourmet salad; frilly lettuce, some type of romaine lettuce (broad large leaf but sweet) & the purple lettuce.  Don't know their names ::)

Got a spare bag left over.  They're usually $2 Aus for a mixed bag and I used to buy one every second day.  Not any more!!  I've got my own garden now :D

Hurray for Anna - I bet it tasted better than any salad you've ever bought :P ;D

I'm very jealous that you've got spring when we're descending into the mists of autumn here - will be getting woolie knickers out of loft soon ;)

Since I watched a programme about lettuce in bags I have never brought one since not that I did very often anyway.

As our allotment isn't ready for planting anything yet but i've just sow some niche oriental mixed salad leaves in my plastic green house and they are showing. Well chuffed and can't wait to taste. Was thinking maybe trying tomatoes too do you think they will work?
