Lucky old me has the choice of several plots which have become vacant and I'm going round tonight to have a look at them. As I have a choice, does it make any difference whether it is facing north/south or east/west? When I visited a few weeks ago to register my name, I noticed that most of the plots seem open and as no large trees are allowed, nothing should really overshadow the plots, so does it matter?
The closer you are to the water source the better, I believe - you'd get very achey arms after carrying two full cans back & forth across the site to water everything in July :(
Also worth considering how close you are to car park or gate if you've got to carry tools.
I'm sure the super-clever chaps on here will tell you more - good luck :)
Is there one that has been more recently cultivated than the others?
D
Thanks for your advice. I have chosen a plot with a good large shed, and the water tap is really close too. The previous tenants were actually there this evening frantically trying to harvest everything before this weekend and it looks to me that they have done a lot of work on it over the past year. Only giving it up as they are moving away so very lucky!
Can't wait for the weekend now to get going!
Sounds like you have made a good choice there. :)
