Title: Dahlias
Post by: daisymay on September 30, 2005, 16:18:29
Hi everyone,

OK stupid question no. 4006 ( I think)

Is there a difference between dahlias from seed and Dahlias from tubers. Or, do dahlias start as seed then form tubers for the following year?

If they are not the same (i.e. you do not get tubers from planting seed) then where do I get dahlia tubers from?

Sorry! I put it in the basic section for a reason  ;D

they are the same - the reason for getting tubers rather than growing from seed is if you want a specific form/colour etc - you tend to get quite a mixture from seed. I am planning to grow several from seed in my lotty next year and will hopefully have some that i like enough to store the tubers over winter then take cuttings to bulk up numbers and replant in my garden the following year. i hope this makes sense daisymay ???
