Title: Soya Beans

Well, I 've now got my crop of ustie soya beans, but what do I do with them now?

Any ideas of good recipes?

I got a few off while still green but accidentally left the rest on too long so of course they are all ripe now.

I've got about half a teacup from 20 plants! They were fairly stuffed with pods, so next year I'm a) planting them 6" apart not a foot (so a lot more in the same area) and doing a larger area.  Hopefully 2 teacups+ will be worth doing from about 50 plants or so.

You shove them in stews like you do any other dried bean, though check over for tiny holes in case a bean weevil's got in before you store them. Microwaving can help here, as long as you don't want them for next year's seed. I was hoping to be able to freeze them whole in the pods then boil them in salt water as the Japanese do (they call them edamame).  But didn't get very many off in time. Oh well! Next year...

They are extremely high in protein and very good for you. And if you leave the plants in the soil or cut them off at the roots, they will have added to the nitrogen levels.
