Title: Lawn weeds
Post by: Palustris on October 30, 2003, 22:54:10
After scarifying part of the 'lawn' last week Anne called me over today to point out a lawn weed which had grown leaves in the absence of the grass (moss, clover, dandelion, daisy etc). Cyclamen hederifolium.  Pricked out over a hundred of the little corms. They can go in the wood a la Croft Castle when they are a little ( or even a lottle) bigger. Serendipity

Keep an eye on Swap Shop and I will post an offer of seeds when the time is right, usually in June. The seeds are spread by ants who lick off the sugar on them and then drop them in  allsorts of odd places.
Mind they are not the only odd weeds in our lawn, how about primroses, cowslips, pansies, violets (ugh nasty things) potentilla warrenii and RAGWORT to mention but a few. Not much grass though.

It would be boring to have a lawn with only grass in though wouldn't it ?As long as its mainly green who cares?

Those flat growing thistles that have invisible prickles are a bit much though. One day we shall have grass.
