Title: Euphorbia forms
Post by: Palustris on September 13, 2005, 14:10:50
We went to our local College for Disabled people yesterday. They have a small Garden Centre/Nursery. We bought the following Euphorbias. Ee. Kalipso, Ruby, Despina, Thalia, Lima, Helena and Efanthia. I can only find a couple of them on the Web, in American suppliers and at hyper prices too. ($12 for one!) We paid £1.85 apiece.
Anyone ever heard of any of them?

I'm not really into Euphorbias, but did get some good info whilst at college. There is a society dedicated to them. Try this link:
http://www.euphorbia-international.org/
Best of luck!

I found Kalypso, Helena and Efanthia at:
http://www.kernock.co.uk/PlantList2.asp?Submit2=Search&formGenus=Euphorbia&formCatalog=%25
and I don't know if this is the same as your Ruby, but
Euphorbia cyparissias 'Fens Ruby' is at:
http://www.westcountrylupins.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Euphorbias_24.html

...blimey! Isn't cut 'n paste a wonderful thing!

I've got a Euphorbia accidentalis in my garden - I don't know how it got there!

Ta, they were not there last week, or if they were they did not come up on Google when I searched.
Searching is such fun, is it not?

Perhaps these UK sites have just taken delivery of the new varieties.

To be honest, I don't know why I did that, Eric - I'm not particularly fond of Euphorbias myself and, having bought yours, you probably have any info you need about them already - I fear I'm fast becoming a Googlaholic, and it's become progressively worse since joining this forum - every time someone mentions a plant, I'm off Googling immediately!

Having said my bit about not liking Euphorbias, I've just remembered that a couple of weeks ago I bought a Euphorbia mellifera (Honey Spurge) thereby doubling my collection.

Amazin, I too am a Googlaholic, and would have done it if you hadn't!  I never cease to be amazed by the information I find on there, more than I ever would have done going to a library and looking in reference books.  My children's homework is so much more interesting because we can use the internet for research.  I find it incredible so much information is so available now.

Eric, I am slowly being converted to Euphorbias and now have a red leaved one in my garden - my Mum would be amazed as I always told her how much I hated them.  This one looks really good and I am very pleased with it.
